A love that survived the years…This review applies to the audible version. This is the seventh book in the Redstone Security series that can be read as a stand-alone.Jordan Alvarado’s actions one evening saved a friend and led her to a decision that impacted the man that she loved. She was in college at the time and four months into a relationship with him. She didn’t know where their future was headed so though it hurt her to do so she made the best choice possible for him without his knowledge. Circumstances have changed after seven years and the one thing that she needs to do to move on with her life is to apologize and hopefully obtain forgiveness from the man that she has never been able to forget. When someone you love deeply leaves your life abruptly with no warning and no explanation your world is turned upside down. There is no closure and there are no answers. You are left with a huge rift in your heart and you always wonder about that person. That is what happened to Vincent Hansen, a former Navy seal who now works for Redstone Security. Seven years have passed and then the woman who he once loved returns looking for forgiveness with an amazing story, perhaps the only story that he could forgive her for once he got over his anger for not having been allowed to be a part of the decision that she made for him all those years ago. This is a second chance romance of two lovers forced apart by a decision resulting from circumstances beyond their control. What they didn’t expect was for the fire that had always burned between them to still be alive after seven years of silence. Neither had found closure or another that could take the others place in their hearts. She not believing there could be more seeks forgiveness and he though angry soon finds that he wants to keep what was always his. But nothing is ever simple and as they dance around each other trying to resolve things they learn that someone with deadly intentions has not forgotten Jordan. This story has action and suspense and two strong and likable main characters. You get both their points of views as well as that of the villain’s. This was quite an enjoyable listen. The narration was excellent; the words very clear, well-paced and easy to follow. Sophie Eastlake did a great job of narration and used different voices for the different characters which brought a depth to the reading and were quite believable for the characters. The change of voice for the male hero though I found perhaps a little too deep. One of these days I am going to listen to a book that uses a man for male voices and/or male POV’s and a female for the female voices and/or female POV’s, that is the only thing that could have possibly made this listen better.I received a complimentary copy from the author for an honest review. Protecting His Witness is book 7 of the Red Stone Security Series by Katie Reus. And its as enjoyable as the others. Filled with lots of suspense, romance and emotions. Action packed and fast paced. This one centers around Vincent and Jourdan. Vincent was always known as a player and a lady’s man, but unbeknownst to all his coworkers, there was one who held his heart once. Seven years before Vincent was in love with Jourdan, and ready to commit to forever, but then Jourdan just left. With no word, no explanation, and no way of contacting or searching for her, Vincent’s life was changed. Now Jourdan’s back and Vincent’s world has crashed as he struggles to understand why she stayed away so long.Protecting His Witness was more emotional, I think than some of the others. There is a lot of hurt and guilt, but also very valid reason for her disappearance. Very well written novel and hard to put down. Very enjoyable and highly recommended.

Not the best in this series, bit still enjoyable. The mystery was nicely done.
