Rabbit And Robot: The Sleepover (2012) - Plot & Excerpts
Rabbit and Robot are friends who will be having their first sleep over together. Rabbit has a list of things they must complete before the night is over and he is very apprehensive to change. As the events of the night approach, something goes wrong with each one of them, but his friend Robot always seems to have a solution for the issue. At the end of the night they both realize that their night turned out to be really great and that the list wasn't that big of a deal. Overall, this book has a good plot, but it is too long of a story. The words are simple and the illustrations accurately demonstrate what the words say. I felt like the actions of Rabbit were not always appropriate. There is no sense of a "moral" or "lesson" being taught because Rabbit is still being bossy by the end of the book. I thought this book was really cute. It is a great book to introduce readers who are ready to start chapter books to start reading chapter books. It is also a great book to read to the class a whole. It has two characters Rabbit and Robot who are completely different in what they like, which just goes to show readers that it is okay to have friends who aren't exactly alike. This book can also be used to introduce your young child about sleepovers. Bell does a great job writing this book, and keeps the reader entertained the whole time. I got this book at my library, but would definitely buy it to add to my personal library at school and at home.
