I cannot begin to imagine what Nancy Saltzman endured -- losing her entire family in a single day. She is indeed a radical survivor, helping readers make sense and find peace when life feels darkest. You don't need to have experienced the same sort of triple loss Nancy Saltzman had to appreciate the power of her voice. I was particularly moved by the personal letters throughout the book; they added real intimacy. She shares her amazing strength in Radical Survivor and we are better for it. First, I must come clean and clarify that I am Nancy's agent. I also was part of the year long grief counseling that was provided at Broadmoor Elementary School after the deaths of Joel, Adam and Seth. That being said, I am continually amazed by Nancy and her will to survive. She finds the good in everyone and everything. Years ago she and I had a conversation regarding loss; I had gone through 5 miscarriages and one of them was at 16 weeks. Her words of encouragement and the shared tears allowed me to openly grieve and keep my daughter, Sophie, alive in my world. It was a conversation that continues to remind me that I have permission to keep my daughter alive in memory and dreams.The book has you in tears one moment and the next you are laughing to yourself. I have always thought that if something were to happen to my husband and he died, I would not have the desire or will to continue on. After reading Nancy's book I know that I could. She is an inspiration to me and I have such sincere respect for what she has endured and her will to continue to live her life to it's fullest. I also find great respect for her fiancé, Greg. It takes a strong, confident, compassionate man to support his "woman" through the experience of writing and promoting this work. I commend him for supporting Nancy in the memories of her family and her will to keep them a complete part of her current day life.
