Ravine Volume 1 TP (2013) - Plot & Excerpts

I have just finished reading the first Issue/Volume of Ravine and I think it is an amazing comic. I would recommend it to anyone that has a love for a gripping fantasy story.I do however have some bad points but only two..... and they are,Bad point One,the beautiful art work is sometimes ruined by other areas were the artist has rushed the details, by this I mean the page where the king is looking out to Damanul's Spire, you will see what I mean (if you buy the comic and I hope you do because its great). Also the bottom frame looks great but is ruined by the lack of detail on the dragon sign.Bad point Two,In Chapter one The Wonderers Call, there is a wording mistake the confused the hell out of me. ''You're still determined to do this today, ENOUGH though I couldn't get you a border pass''. the mistake is in caps, if its not a mistake then I apologise to the writer. but I do think it was meant to be ''You're still determined to do this today, EVEN though I couldn't get you a border pass''.All in all an amazing comic book. 8/10O and I know there is probably some wording mistake of my own on this post but I don't write comic books (yet). The Saga Unfolds would be an appropriate title for this book. I’m truly impressed with what Ron Marz & Stjepan Sejic have created here: an epic adventure full of interesting characters in a fantasy world with an incredibly elaborate history. The only drawback of Ravine is that there are so many pawns on the board that this first volume requires the reader’s utmost concentration and even then you can use a rereading. (not that this would be considered a punishment, far from it) Yet I didn’t feel it became too much for me. On the contrary: I want more! Sometimes it reminds me somewhat of ‘Game Of Thrones’, especially when there’s talk about a "game of power" or "the cold is coming" but don’t think this is a total rip-off. It’s completely different in content and (like’ Game Of Thrones’) the story stays away from the beaten paths of fantasy clichés.The artwork of Stjepan Sejic is photo-realistic eye candy. Sometimes it really feels like watching a movie with lifelike characters. This book is not a collection of single issues but a first installment containing 125 pages, pages you’ll want to devoure in a single reading. In the back, the comic is complemented by appendices: glossary, cast of characters, a tale, etc. ...This summer, the second volume should arrive on the shelves of your comic book store.Strongly reccomended !!!!!!!!!!! (but no easy reading)
