About as exciting as scrap booking :)Ok, so apparently there are more books in this series, I haven't read those and now I don't think I will.I found it to be very amateurish. The title and the book cover are quite misleading. The first couple of chapters and the last couple of chapters deal with murder and the middle is sleep inducing ramble about the geriatric problems. The writing is in very short sentences and that doesn't make for a smooth reading experience.I found the main character to be annoying, all "holier that thou" and overall unsympathetic. Although closer to the end of the book it gets explained why she is that way, that doesn't change the fact that she is winy and annoying.Minus 100 points for cliched kidnapping ending. This fifth installment in the Kiki Lowenstein Scrap-N-Craft Mystery series doesn't disappoint! Kiki experiences a great deal of emotional turmoil and is torn in many different directions, all while trying to solve the May Day murder of a local woman. She is also continuing to be haunted by her husband's murderer and Detweiler's unstable wife (hopefully, soon to be ex-wife, if he can just get her to sign the papers). She also is forced to alienate her best friend Mert, in an attempt to catch the the man who killed her husband. It seems like Kiki's world is spiraling out of control, and it doesn't help that her narcissistic mother arrives for a surprise visit. Kiki ends up on a roller coaster ride of both emotional turmoil and actual danger. This book leaves you wanting more and hoping that publication of book #6 moves along swiftly! If you haven't read the first 4 books in this series, make sure you do (and there are several short ebooks available that are a bridge between book 4 and 5 that are highly worth the $.99 price tag!)
What do You think about Ready, Scrap, Shoot (2012)?
No one does a better cliffhanger ending than Slan. I rolled right into her next book!
