Rebels: City Of Indra: The Story Of Lex And Livia (2014) - Plot & Excerpts
I have stomached The Fallen Series, so why not bring on my inner book masochist yet again? No sense hating something I haven't read. This is one of them "I'd like to read awful books so I can appreciate the good books more" kind of perspective. I have a feeling my real review will be long and painful. Needless to say, I don't think any celebrity, especially the ones only famous for a reality tv show and not actual award-winning genre, should even be allowed to THINK about writing a book. Like, some authors spend half of their lives getting published, and writing is actually a hard-earned passion for them. Meanwhile, these girls must've just thought to write a couple words while waiting for their next mani-pedi. That says a lot. So I tried to read this book. I tried to be as objective as I could but I do admit to being pretty biased. First, I couldn't even get to chapter 2, it was that... Strange? Most of it was big words randomly thrown in when it was unneeded, which ruined the writing. And I read one part that was repeated by the narrator at least 3 times. Oh, I can't forget how the it had no order to it, it was just a bunch of thoughts placed onto pages. Second, what I had read so far seemed like I've read it before. I can almost swear that they have taken other dystopian novels and taken ideas from them and mashed them into a story line for their book. This novel could have potential, but it would take a lot of work. Like rewriting the entire book. So maybe I am being harsh and probably a little biased but how can I not be? This novel makes it easy to be.
