Lucy wants to play with her wagon, but her mother asks her to go to the market. Lucy goes to the market (with her friends) and picks up the vegetables her mother requested. During the trip up and down the hill her imagination takes off! This book works well in the storytime setting. With a one-to-one setting, it could work a little better because the reader could talk more about what was happening in the illustrations.Theme: RedAdditional themes: market, imagination, foxes, choresReviewed from a library copy. Another great Renata Liwska picture book. The pictures elaborate so much on the very minimal text to create a whole different story than the simple text implies. I thought I would try the story out in a family storytime thinking that the older kids would get the joke implied in the inconsistency between the pictures and the text. Unfortunately Liwska's lovely illustrations are hard to convey to a storytime group so much of the story was lost. The story is best for individual (and family) use.
What do You think about Red Wagon (2011)?
Cute book. The pictures are really adorable.
