A 5th grader recommended this book to me and I really liked it! Reminds me a lot of Roald Dahl's unique stories. Jane is the exact opposite of Dahl's Matilda and thinks she is completely unremarkable. Everyone in her town is remarkable at one thing or another. If you need a break from grown-up books, I highly recommend this one! Everyone needs to be reminded how remarkable they truly are once in awhile, especially children. I picked up this book with to read with my 6-year-old who loves pirates (it features several pirates and a sea monster). If I had read it on my own, I might not have enjoyed it as much--but it was so delightful to read with my son and enjoy it through his eyes as well. It was funny, easy-to-read, and has a good overall message--your worth as a person is based on more than just what you are good at doing.
What do You think about Remarkable (2012)?
A really fun Roald Dahl type book. I love the dog named "Dirt".
