Rez Life: An Indian's Journey Through Reservation Life (2012) - Plot & Excerpts
I am currently enjoying this very thorough book on Native Americans (specifically in how it relates to those in the midwest). So much history and information, I feel very, very ignorant. Thankfully Treuer was willing to unearth all of these much needed facts and spins them into an interesting and very informative read. I'm considering having my 11th grade students read this to learn about Native Americans. A view of current Indian Reservation life and why Native Americans have a different way of viewing America. Included are well-researched and little known treaty facts, a plethora of info about native species, as well as the expected tenuous existence of the reservation as an entity, itself. Recommended, in order to understand Indian nation soverignty, why life can be so difficult and perplexing on teh reservation, the complex history of Native alliances and interpols, as well as the future of tribes.
What do You think about Rez Life: An Indian's Journey Through Reservation Life (2012)?
Really smart and funny description of serious subject matter.
