Mac said, complaining. “I don’t know how you get anything done.” Beth had closed the door on Zoe after kissing her and telling her sweet dreams. But not before Zoe demanded the same of Mac. Then she hugged her doll, rolled over and closed her eyes. Hours earlier, Mac had walked out of his room when he finished with his shower to hear giggling and splashing water coming from the bathroom down the hall. He made his way toward them, stopping in the doorway to witness Zoe screaming in delight as Beth poured water over her head to rinse out the shampoo. “Dr. Mac, Mommy’s washing my hair,” Zoe said, waving her little arms, minus her splint, splashing more water and causing Beth to hop back so as not to get wet. “I see that.” His eyes warmed watching the two of them. All Zoe’s blonde ringlets were currently plastered to her head, the water streaming down her face. “We’re about done,”
