Read via audio book to get the full John Waters experience. It makes me happy that there is someone out there appreciating what others think as weird, banal, unpopular or trashy, not for fame or celebrity - he prefers to stay at home reading - but just because that's who he is. For example, his taste in art is certainly not mine, but you can't help but admire the passion with which he describes the art that speaks to him and how it enhances his life. Role Models by John Waters was a memorable book with a distinct style. This book explains to you that you should have your own personal style and don't be the typical culture. This book is not a typical book but a typical John Waters style book. This book talked about many stories and individual pieces that inspired John Waters. Many of the stories are about his friends or people that he has interviewed or inspired him in someway. Some stories are just weird stories that have happened in human history but put into a different way of think about them. All of these people had there own personalties that made them the character of who they are. Over all I gave this book a four star rating. I gave it this rating because I really enjoyed the book and I liked the style of it. I do think that there were some parts in the book that were somewhat pretentious but that could have been the possible goal. John Waters is definitely not for everyone. I suggest this book to people who are seeking a different view of things. Over all I really enjoyed this book and I am glad I read it.
Not my cup of tea. Wasn't familiar with john waters before, wasn't impressed with the book.
