really liked this one--it may be my new favorite of this series. I really love the way this author portrays her characters--great alpha male leads, strong heroines, exciting villains. It had everything I have come to expect from reading one of Ms. Tisdale's books, including an actual romance, and good action/suspense. What was the factor that made me like this one a little more than the previous one I read was the fact pretty much the whole story centered on the main characters. There were still the mass of secondary characters we have met in the previous stories, but the main focus was definitely on this H and h, and the plot did not go off on tangents with other characters. I love Suzan Tisdale's books and this one did not disappoint. It's not everyday that I start to cry in the first chapter of a book but this one did that to me as well as the second chapter. I love Rowan and Arline to me they were the perfect fit for each other. Both strong honorable people who did what they thought was right and honorable over everything else and didn't think of themselves. I do have to say that Lily just might of been my favorite character of this book. I fell in love with her instantly. The book is full of suspense, violence and mystery and I can't wait to read the next book Frederick's Queen. The only reason I didn't give this book a 5* rating is that it slowed in the middle and there were some mistakes that I never noticed in Ms. Tisdale's other books. I highly recommend Suzan Tisdale's books to everyone that enjoyed Scottish historical romance stories you will not regret reading them.
