So adorable! But Rufus is not only the cutest little pig ever (fantastic illustration work!), but also smart and determined!I liked Rufus's story because it wasn't your typical "child is doing something wrong and by the end learns better" story. Rufus has a favorite story that he desperately wants to read himself but... he doesn't know how to read! (I can relate, having had the same childhood experience!) So Rufus tries to figure out how to be allowed to attend school (he is a piggie, after all!) so he can learn! And, after some very funny struggles... he succeeds!! Go Rufus! All Rufus Leroy Williams III wants is to go to school so he can learn to read his favorite book. But there's one problem: he's a pig and Principal Lipid says: "NO PIGS IN SCHOOL!" Rufus even gets a backpack, a lunchbox, and a blanket to prove he's ready. But Mr. Lipid won't budge. Is there ANYTHING Rufus can do to change his mind? Kim Griswell and illustrator Valeri Gorbachev have created a love letter to reading that's also a charming, original, and child-friendly first-day-of-school story.Super cute illustrations. They are large enough for a storytime group, but individuals will enjoy them even more.
