I'm completely in love with this series. It's so so beautiful and I'm enjoying the story a lot. I'm very impressed with how real the story feels .. after all it is "just" (totally wrong word here!) a comic about some aliens with very VERY bizarre side characters .. but still it's written in a way that lets you forget that Landfall & Wreath don't even truly exist out there (maybe they do?). The characters are so realistic and don't seem strange at all .. despite the horns, wings or flippers. It's just your everyday story of the adventures of parenthood and struggling to protect your kids against all the dangers out there. Well, and spaceships, aliens and gorgeous planets ... Definitely my favorite of the series with great action, adventure, and artwork as always. I like how BKV's writing allows me to like both Alana AND Gwen as characters; no choosing between Marko's past and present lovers, both are well rounded and written women in their own right. Also THE BRAND. No idea she was a she at first which I guess is just me being sexist, but I can already tell I'm going to like her. Plus Klara and Hazel and Izabel (who I imagine has the voice of Kari from The Incredibles)- there is really no shortage of female badassness in this series. I like how the story twists and turns and you are never quite sure of each character's fate. I like the idea that no one is safe while actually believing they all kind of are at the same time. Catching up is going to be incredibly difficult. I like being able to binge read the series so I don't forget the characters and storylines (there are a lot).Also 17 & 18 are my new favorites. "Life is mostly learning how to lose."
