Saga, Vol. 1 (2012) - Plot & Excerpts

Saga is a story about a baby girl born from to fueding races, it's kind of like if Romeo and Juliet didn't commit suicide, and had a baby and ran away to have it. The baby could be the key to peace on both worlds, but there a lot more at stake, and both sides what them and their baby killed. It gets interesting when bounty hunters get hired. This graphic novel is high on sex and nudity, and has plenty of graphic images. The love story keeps the novel well grounded, and makes it very believable. The narrative is from the perspective of the baby girl all grown up thinking about the past, and how she was raised, which is very well done, and one of the best narrative devices, I've seen done in a long time.I recommend this book for any one that wants to read a great story , the violence and sex might turn off some people, but i enjoyed them, it makes sense in the story and the art is really well done. Wow, where do I even start?-the amazing designs?-the wonderful writing?-the interesting characters?-the beautiful art?The art. The artwork in Saga is amazing. I don't even know how to describe it. Every facial expression is spot on and it's just damn beautiful. The characters are all well-rounded and believable individuals and the refreshing diversity of the characters is wonderful. There's also something about the colors used in Saga that help make it stand out and look even prettier. When there is a new character/object/planet the artist never seems to go for the obvious, but instead has fun with the design and makes something truly intriguing every time. It's just a really fun and interesting read. I just can't complement the character designs enough. I have fallen in love with some of them and I can't wait to read more.I recommend this to everyone and anyone. You'll know soon enough if it's not for you, so check it out, I'm betting you'll find something to like.

I didn't think I was going to like it and I was right, I didn't like it, I loved it. Vaughan is the master of sucking me into a story and not letting me leave until the story is done. I read the entire first volume in one sitting and can't wait to get my hands on the second. Look, this might not be everybody's cup 'o tea but it was right up my alley. It's like Y: The Last Man meets Star Wars meets Firefly. It's something that feels familiar but is decidedly all its own.

Pretty cool, I haven't read many comic books but I'm definitely going to keep reading this series.
