Saving The Team (2013) - Plot & Excerpts

Devin has just moved to a new school in Calafornia, and she has moved all the way from Connecticut! When it is time for Devin's first day of school and she was very nervous because she did not know anybody. Devin was also very scared about the soccer try outs because she knows all of the really good soccer players come from Calafornia. When it is time for her P.E period she plays kick ball and is the best out of her whole class. Afterwards she meets three new girls named Jessi, Emma, and Zoie. Devin's three new friends tell Devin that the school soccer team is horrible. Also that the coach, Coach Floris treats everybody as a baby. When it comes time to the try outs Devin believes every word Jessi, Emme, and Zoie said, they really do stink! Read this book to find out what Devin will do next! Alex Morgan (Womans National Soccer Team Starter and Olempic gold medalist ) has written this book fror all soccer lovers. I also recommend this book to people who really like soccer. This book is under the genre of realistic fiction. The reader will be glued to this book and not want to put it down. This is a great little story with a main character that is both realistically portrayed and fully built. Devin is clever, good at maths, very good at soccer and quite a clever problem solver. While easily the ‘star’ of her team, Devin is fully aware of the team nature of the game, and works diligently to help her teammates succeed on the field and off. It was refreshing to see a young girl who was aware of and worked at sportsmanship, while the coach was less demanding, the contrast between that and the overzealous types that are all too familiar was a nice break and gave the kids a bit of opportunity to self-motivate. This would be a good addition to any girl’s library, written by an author with a solid understanding of sports excellence and teamwork. I received an eBook copy from the publisher via Edelweiss for purpose of honest review and inclusion in the Children Read week at I am, Indeed. I was not compensated for this review: all conclusions are my own responsibility.
