Cute story for younger readers. Author uses words to describe how an animal talks. For example, a cats' hello is "prissy and proud"... a donkey's hello is "silly and happy". Good intro to adjectives. I like how the words really do go with the description of the animal's personality and way they "talk". The 1/2 flaps on each page make it fun to see the description then a picture of the animals "talking". Hearing and learning animal sounds is a fun way to develop phonological awareness, the ability to hear the smaller sounds in words. "Say Hello Like This" has colorful pictures with split pages and simple but entertaining language just right for reading aloud to toddlers. My "Onesies" class loved this. Be prepared to ham it up a bit as you read-and it is ok to change the animal sounds to ones you are used to, like "woof woof" instead of "bow wow".
This looks good for storytime.
