Scarred Beautiful is the companion novel to "Love, Love" and I had high expectations. The story of Gabby was truly beautiful and Fran was a big part of it as her best friend and family. I wanted to learn more about her.I liked Scarred Beautiful, mostly because the characters are fun and their personalities are well defined. BUT I can't help but feel a little disappointed when it comes to some decisions from the author; for example, Fran already had a rich backstory to explore and we didn't really need having her in mourn for Kyle. There are perfectely good reasons a relationship doesn't work out and having one of them dropping dead shouldn't be one of them when we have already been there in Fran's world. That's really the only thing that bother me but it feels like important, we could have deal in depth about Fran's father (and in a way we did) but Kyle was a really good character and having him end like that doesn't feel right for anybody.Matt is a wonderful character and I really liked how he was still mourning his mother and sister. It's clear he still needed to work thing out in order to be happy or give himself a chance to be with someone he loves. The verbal sparring between Fran and Matt is one of the most sexy and fun I have read in a long time. Loved it. WOW!!!! Scarred Beautiful by Beth Michele was not what I expected at all and this is a good thing, because I wasn't expecting to read a beautiful heart-wrenching love story. What a perfect read in the week of Valentine's Day!Fran had an abusive childhood and all of that still affects her in the present time. She has been physically and emotionally scarred by what her childhood life has handed her. Even though she went through such a horrible abuse, she is a strong and successful women. When I first read her memories about her childhood, I thought that she had been raped, but that was not the case. Beth Michele brings a new different type of abuse, that I have never really thought of or read of in any other book. I physically felt Fran's pain when she remembered these abuses, and I emotionally felt Fran's pain from these memories. My heart broke because no child should have to suffer something like this. What do I love about Fran's character? One thing I love about her character is that she represents inner beauty. I also love the way her character develops by the end of Scarred Beautiful.I have added a new Book Boyfriend on my Book Boyfriends list :D! Matt has his own painful memories of the past. He lost his mother and sister to breast cancer and his father left him and his brother after the death of his sister. You can say that Matt had to grown up fast and take the responsibility of an adult figure in his brother and sister's life, which is why he is very up-tight at the beginning of the story- he wants everything to go as planned. I loved Matt's character so much because he is thoughtful, caring, funny, romantic, and hot! There is not one single thing I didn't love about Matt. He had me swooning from the very beginning with all of his hotness and romantic words until the very end.Fran and Matt had already meet each other before, because Matt's brother is engaged to Fran's best friend. When they meet again in L.A. they are staying in the same hotel for a conference meeting they are going to be attending. The chemistry between these two flows naturally, you really do get that feeling that they have known each other for years, because that's just how they act around each other. Matt helps Fran heal from her emotional scars and Fran teaches Matt how to live life. I just loved Fran and Matt's relationship because even though it did develop quickly, it flowed naturally and it just felt right.Beautifully Scarred by Beth Michele is a beautiful heart wrenching stand alone novel. Beth Michele gives you everything you want to read in a book: romance, comedy, heartbreak, and a HEA :D! I highly recommend everyone to read Fran and Matt's heart wrenching love story in Beautifully Scarred, because this is just one of those books that you have to read.
