I liked the story but it felt so familiar. Kinda like Practical Magic, a little bit like Garden Spells. I'll admit that is a genre I like but I don't think this had enough umpf to it to make it stand out. Just kinda blah throughout. And there were numerous continuity problems. Like having a character in a strapless dress then a couple of paragraphs later she is shoving a cell phone in her jeans pocket. Bad editing! I listened to this book on audio and I thought it would be a fun "on the way to work" read. This was true though 40% of the book. After that, I found myself wanting the book to be done so I could find out what happens to each of the characters. The story itself was more a little more fantastical in some ways than what I am used to, but I found that aspect charming versus cheesy. All in all this was a good book and I would recommend it to someone looking for an interesting escape on a summer weekend.
A magical book - I enjoyed reading it and look forward to the authors next book.
