Kahlil auntie Leslie screamed as he nodded to some of his family, walked through the crowded front lawn and into her home. “Hi ma. Hi auntie. Hey everybody.” “Jesus no! He was my only child!” Leslie cried. “Hey son. Hand me that box of Kleenex on the top of the television, will you baby?” His mother asked him while rubbing a gentle hand up and down her sister's back. Kahlil grabbed the box and took a seat next to his aunt and began to wipe her face. “Kahlil baby you be careful out here I don't want to lose you too. Why Lord?” She screamed again before she leaned across him and sobbed. He wrapped his arms tight around her and held her until she cried herself to sleep as all of the family quietly looked on. He tried to be strong but as dawn turned to dusk his quiet tears began to fall nonstop. His mom had long since taken his auntie to her room trying to encourage her to get some rest but it was no use.
