This collection of three stories appears to be unrelated at first glance, but if you spend a little time with the work, connections begin to jump out. I read this one for a class, and while I enjoyed reading them, the discussion really brought this one to light for me. This would be a great choice for a book club or a class. It's about the choices you make in life and trying to achieve dreams and the ways in which life keeps you trapped. I would recommend this one for someone looking for a graphic novel to spend a little time with. Although you can read it quickly, lingering really makes this one memorable. Look out for the little details in each story! The author who wrote “American Born Chinese” has made another masterpiece. The readers get to meet three different characters, Duncan, Gran'pa Greenbax, and Janet, each with a different story to tell, all so unique and interesting. These stories really dive into the reader’s mind and questions the impossible. These three stories have very different plots but the same theme: getting what a person wants, but realizing the truth of what they need. Duncan wanted to be a hero, to show that he was the bravest of the brave, but realizes that there are more important things to take care of first. Gran’pa Greenbax wants money, he wanted to be rich, be a millionaire that could live a life of eternal happiness, but realizes the true key to happiness. Janet wanted a romantic relationship with a mysterious Nigerian Prince that entered her life, but ends up with a sad truth.
What do You think about Senyum Abadi (2010)?
I really liked the first and last story. The middle one was ok. A nice, light read.

Three short stories, really well done. Loved the second story. Great ending to it.
