Serendipity Green (2000) - Plot & Excerpts

More people need to discover Rob Levandoski. I read this novel after reading Fresh Eggs, which I also loved. In fact, I bought this one when I was about halfway through Fresh Eggs. Set in the same rural small town as Fresh Eggs, Green is yet another hilarious romp through the oddities of small town life. The characters are fresh, odd, quirky, and delightful. The essence of the story (and the title) plays off the color an irascible resident of the town chooses to paint his house, much to the chagrin of the town council. The color itself is taken up by a New York-based designer (who is famous for his 300 shades of black) as the new thing. Did I mention the quirkiness? A different type of story from Fresh Eggs (this one is more realistic, for one thing, despite how I may have described it above), but very fun. Why is this not more well-known?
