I almost tripped over a gravestone behind me and lost my balance. I had to catch myself against a tree. “You should come away from there, dear,” an old woman’s voice said. “You wouldn’t want to be caught somewhere you shouldn’t be.” I staggered out of the graves and onto the path that passed in front of the tomb of Héloïse and Abelard.
