Well this reads nothing like Viehl's Darkyn books. The setup, style, flow is all different. I don't dislike this, it's just not as awesome as the Darkyn books. Also, I was oft confused in this book. There are a ton of POV's in this. Jessa, Matthias, Drew, Rowan, Genaro, Lawson, Samantha & Lucan. The character of Jessa was fine, but I felt like Matthias was underdeveloped & underused. There was so much there that could've been done. The romance was very light. About half way through... And I'm confused as hell. I see that this is kind of like a spin off from the Darkyn series... I didn't realise this when I downloaded the first book. I'm now facing a bit of a predicament. Burned by Karen Marie Moning will be released in jan, and I planned on reading this series before re-reading the fever series in prep for KMMs next book... (Huge KMM fan!) Should I read Darkyn instead of kyndred...? Or just battle through not knowing who the hell all of the secondary characters are? OR, just pick up the fever series and start re-reading now...? Hmmmmmmmm. Decisions, decisions...
What do You think about Shadowlight (2009)?
I was not impressed with this at all. More to come later...
