Shopping For A Billionaire (2014) - Plot & Excerpts
I found this book on Amazon as one of their "free books" and decided to download it onto my Kindle as I usually find Chick-Lit to be perfect as a quick read when out and about. However, I'm surprised I made it through the book.I'm actually very surprised by the high reviews this series has gotten. Personally, I found myself skimming through some parts, especially at the beginning. It did get better towards the end and that's the only reason I finished the book. And, imagine my surprise when the book ends and I realized only a day had gone by in the characters world. Considering how little actually happened in the book, I'm betting all 4 books in the series is enough to make one complete novel.I don't know if this was just me but wow, did the author put every reference she could into the book. From plentyoffish to Honey Boo Boo, this book had it all. And I wasn't a fan. I ended up snagging this title against my better judgment, it didn't fit within my word count parameters but I have to tell you that it is some of the most fun I have had while reading in awhile. The characters keep you laughing and that Declan is something to think about if nothing more. The story begins when Shannon Jacoby a mystery shopper has 9 shops fall into her lap around 4:00a in the morning. She ends up having to cover for another shopper herself. As she is going through the survey that comes on any shop she ends up crossing paths with Declan McCormick. Declan is all male and self assured, where Shannon is insecure with not less than a few hang ups of her own. Their chemistry is electric and leads to a number of hilarious interactions with each other that are peppered by Shannon's mom, sisters, friends and co-workers. The exchanges are hilarious, the only reason this doesn't get all five stars is due to the fact that the story is broken up over approximately 5-6 installments. Since I am clearly OCD with my reading that doesn't mesh with my ritual. Otherwise as a reader you will fall instantly in love with the richness of the characters and their crazy antics. I actually found myself snickering and very happy that I wasn't on the bus or train while reading it since I became so engrossed. Has anyone ever found themselves in transit and so into the story that they actually reacted (laugh/cry) and then look up only to realize that your fellow passengers are staring at you like the crazy lady with way too many cats? I of course cut myself off at only two. I am not permitted to bring anymore into the house but thats a general rule for me. I am a cat lover. The chairman and Emily approved this review btw. If you have ever found yourself in a similar predicament how did you play it off? If you have had a moment to read this title drop me a line, I would love to hear what you thought about the book. Happy Reading!
