Show Your Work!: 10 Ways To Share Your Creativity And Get Discovered (2014) - Plot & Excerpts
Another shot in the arm for the creative types. Great advice on how to be an artist in the digital age - practical, timely, but also somewhat ageless. The things that make artists artists are the same - writers write, painters paint, and being true to the form of your art is important. But using social media to promote yourself and to be successful is not perhaps as intuitive for some of us :::cough::: as it could be. I tend towards the hoarding side of the sharing spectrum, keeping my goodies to myself. To take my work to the next level, I actually have to start getting out there. This book helped make that a little less scary for me. I must say that within 10 ways of showing your work mentioned in the book, I have two different comments for each way, agree and totally agree. As a general 9-6 employee, I always fed up with work and commuting. The work is not really my passion, and the commuting is really exhausting. I need to make time to create something I love, even though maybe the final result will suck. But I cannot wait my whole life to be a master in things I love. So as written in the book, you don't have to be a genius - I totally agree with this one. There are nine other ways, some of which I totally agree and agree. But most of all, I really like the book.
