Sidecar (2012) - Plot & Excerpts

This story held a silent kind of beauty to it. Alike the setting, it felt serene and almost hidden away. I appreciated the feeling of privacy, as I believe some of the best kind of relationships develop slowly and can bloom while remaining low-key. While I *thoroughly* enjoyed the journey of Joe and Casey's relationship (Gosh, when Joe started to allow himself to change the way he saw things), it was also enlightening to watch their own paths to self-discovery. Amy Lane really went in-depth to reveal the meaning behind the characters individual and joint struggles. The love just felt so real and natural, unbreakable, as they confronted and embraced the struggles they faced :') Overall, there were many gloomy and blissful moments spanning the lives of these two men, and it was so easy to invest your emotions into these characters till the end, as they were so well-developed. Side note: At times, things felt a bit dragged on, OH and just to clarify, some scenes in this novel are for...mature audiences :3I would definitely recommend this book to readers interested in breaking the boundaries and following a fantastic, inspirational, life (and love) story! (Special thanks to Mel and Mushu for finding this!) I am really surprised by this book. I kept having to make sure it was Amy Lane, whom I've read before , because the depth of this surpasses anything of hers I have read previously . She really brought herself in this endeavor (and yea, that's the past tense of "bring it"). The story is nothing less than hearts rending on many levels . The knowledge of the decade(s) geography and the the Friends were astonishing to me. I had been trying to read a book in the same genre and had gotten so annoyed with the petty editing issues. At one point in this other book(Timing, Mary Calmes) the undergrad school that the MC attended in Tempe ,AZ was actually said to be the U of A which is in Tucson and it's ASU that is in Tempe . I live between NYC and the Phoenix area so this annoyed the f out of me. As editing issues often do. I had spent undergrad years off time below , or on the other side of , Bear Mtn and Harriman state park ,so I was very familiar with the setting of NY state. There's just so much about this book that is worth the time. The real essence of it being the deep seated love that is it's core . I am grateful of having read this .
