Really outstanding. I enjoyed the previous four installments a lot but never before have I thought the final book in a series was the best! This was a really gripping story full of twists and suspense with a lot of heart. It’s definitely a difficult story at times, but it is so well-constructed (much like the silos!) and commands that you keep reading to find out what happens. I couldn’t put it down. I hear there are other related novels so I will definitely add them to my To Read list. Book 1 wasn't great, but it peaked my interest. I really enjoyed books 2, 3, and 4 and couldn't wait to see how things developed / resolved in book 5.Everything started well, but about 2/3 of the way through things felt sloppy and rushed. The pacing and resolve at the end especially felt rushed and half-hearted, like the author then decided he was going to do a couple spin off series and got bored with following Juliette and Silo 18's story so ended it as fast as he could. The Silo 17 children being introduced is where things quite noticeably took a turn for the worse. All this being said, I still enjoyed the author's writing style. The books are quick, engaging reads I think because the writing is plainspoken casual but insightful and poetic at times in descriptions and character's viewpoints. Honest and relatable. So though I am not thrilled with the ending half / 1/3 of this book, I very much enjoyed the series and may pick up one of the spin-offs. Maybe. I'm a little afraid they will follow the same path as this one - a thrilling ride with an unfulfilling end.
What do You think about Silo 5 (2013)?
