So, I finished Ironhand, thinking "oh boy! The author has definitely improved his writing! THis book will be so GOOD!!!" Sadly, it wasn't so wonderful. To me, the last book in a trilogy must be the greatest (or at least nearly as good as the first) in the series. The book must start with the rising action, and continue to make you heart race until you reach a long, and epic climax that makes your heart race. Silvertongue continued in some sort of constant prepare-for-battle thing that gets very very very old. LEt's see. They ran (and flew) around fighting taints randomly for most of the book, instead of having more of a plot. The most exciting thing in the book were the short segements following Edie and her quest to find what happened to her mother, which didn't have much to do with defeating the evil. IT was just a boring (and confisong) book. The characters also seemed to have lost all personality as well! Edie went through the motions of don'tcrydon'tcrydon'tcry, of course George got rid of the stone arm and continued to fight randomly, and the Gunner -wellllll- he just shot things and followed Edie around. The actual source of evil -the Walker and the Ice devil- never really showed up at all until the end. The actual ending wasn't really satisfying either. I'd gove it a 2 1/2 sat but, this being a long book, and there being much difficulty in writing an ending, I over rated it again. Now, excuse me while I go read Coraline before seeing just how bad the Star Wars and LOTR plagarism is on Inheritance series. I had 20 pages to finish the boom and I was still wondering what would happen with some of the characters. This book is packed with actions, and there are several thing happening at the same time, so you jump form one chapter to the other just wondering when all those individual stories will get together. This is done beautifully!!!! I must say that what I enjoy the most about this series was the writing style. The sentences, the comparasion, the vocabulary...it was just brilliant!!!! I wonder if all his books are written in the same way!!!
What do You think about Silvertongue (2009)?
This must have been so much fun to research and write. Excellent idea but uneven in the telling.

Happy with the end but have mixed feeling about Eedie and George being brother and sister.
