Though I try my best to be non-judgmental about it all, reading a book about Faeries did push me in how comfortable I was reading this book in a public place. Please don't be offended, I am simply saying that, though I loved the entire Faeriewalker trilogy by Jenna Black, I got a little pang of self-consciousness when I was asked what I was reading.I totally understand the love and the following that fantasy brings. I am also able to tell you that I do love a good fantasy story. It makes for a nice change from the usual 'boy-meets-girl' scenario that Young Adult fiction tends to circle around. Now, not to say that the fantasy ones don't have this underlying in the plot, but with the fantasy aspect, the reader is treated to something else that makes these books special. I am a huge fan of it all. Vampires, unicorns, werewolves, faeries, etc. are all within my realm of what I enjoy. However, I digress.I first checked out Glimmerglass about a year ago from the library. I was just browsing the library and seeing what I could get my hands on by way of a special treat for graduating college. Well the back intrigued me so I thought, "What the heck? I'll check it out." That was all I had to do. I was hooked. I finished it and pinned away for the sequel to come out. After waiting and waiting, I guess I lost interest, or forgot all about it, because in June I went to the library in LA and found Shadowspell. All the feelings and the love for the first book came rushing back. So I checked it out and read it in about 24 hours. Love again.Well since then, I never lost the want to finish out the trilogy, and let me tell you, this one did not disappoint! I couldn't put it down. Half because I loved it so much, and the other half was wanting to see if there was any hope for a fouth book (although I knew from Jenna Black's website that there was no promise of a book #4).I was pleasently surprised that there WAS some home in the book for a fourth book. Well, not wanting to get my hopes up, I can see why she said there was no plans for one. I didn't leave the book with too many questions, and I felt at peace with the ending (no spoilers!). However, I can tell you that if Jenna Black did want to continue with the story later in he life, or if another author wanted to take on the challenge of this, there are several avenues that could be taken in order to do that. There were a few side stories that could easily be taken to another book, or two, or three.Anyway, I am getting ahead of myself. I just loved this book just as much as the others in the triology and I have a glitter of hope in my heart for Dana and her friends to return. But for now, I can truthfully say I am extremely satisfied by what the final book did to wrap it up.Needing more and wanting more from a book are two different things, and thought I want more of this story, I am happy to say that I don't need it! What I Thought:Sirensong is an interesting conclusion to this series! We finally get to go to Fairie and meet Titania. Who, as it turns out, is not the one behind all of the crazy stuff that's been happening to Dana. What I didn't expect was all of the stuff that happened at Seelie Court! All of the stuff with Henry and who was really behind the assassination attempt (because we all know it's not Dana). Like, there's another fairiewalker out there, which wasn't expected at all, because I didn't think there would be two of them!Dana's been such an interesting character, and after spending so much time trying to save everyone, I think she's finally coming to the realization that she can't save everybody...most of all, her mom. Dana has so many issues trusting people- which is totally understandable- but I also feel like she's headed in the right direction and starting to work them out. I also love her friendship with Kimber and how her relationship with her dad changed over the course of the series. Especially in Sirensong, where he finally started to be a little more open with his daughter. As for the romance...I'm still not sure about Ethan and Dana as a couple. All the stuff with Erlking that we saw in Shadowspell...well, that threw some obstacles in their way, but Dana manages to get out of the deal with the Erlking, which means he's a non-issue. As is Keane, who ends up with Kimber. I don't know that I was necessarily thinking of romance in this series, but the deal with the Erlking and his interest in Dana was definitely interesting. Let's Rate It: Sirensong really did end the series so well! While I didn't love it, I still really enjoyed it and Dana's story. Sirensong gets 4 stars.
What do You think about Sirensong (2011)?
I really liked this book, but if there isn't going to be another one it made me feel incomplete.
