Smile For The Camera: A Memoir (2010) - Plot & Excerpts

ACTUAL RATING: 4.5/5It's been a long time since I read a memoir, so when I saw this at the library I decided it was time to read another one. I really liked this book!!! It was interesting and sooo inspirational. The stuff that happened and the events that led up to the ending of Kelle's life was so good and sometimes I forgot this this is a memoir and that this actually happened to a girl who lived through it all and write this book so many people could read it and feel inspired. I loved Kelle and really respected her.she had a hard life even when she was a young girl. She lived in fear of her father who was like a warden in jail and always kept her in line. Kids shouldn't live like that and they don't deserve to be treated like that, but Kelle was and when she was 16 years old, she escaped to the city that never sleeps hoping to make her big break. She did something that no one in her little family had the guts to do something like that and she was the youngest. She wanted to follow her dreams and she did. Sure she had some rough times when she came to New York City, but she overcame that by making the best friends who helped her along the way. She never quit and along the way, she learned some important lessons. She wrote this book to teach those lessons to people all around. I hope I meet her one day or someone like her. The ending was kinda sad, but her life continued on. I wonder what she's doing know this year. I hope it's something good. But all in all, this was a great book and I'm glad I was able to read this wonderful debut memoir. Enjoy!!!!!!!! Kelle James’ Smile for the Camera’s audience is the average teenager. The main message of the memoir is to maintain optimism and hope in achieving your dreams. I believe that this is a positive message that should reach out to teenagers everywhere. Kelle James conveys her message through this memoir in a riveting and thorough way. Anyone should read this book if they want to be captivated and given a hopeful sprirt.
