Ethan laid a hand on hers across the keyboard. “Ashley. Stop.” She shook her hand free and focused on the screen, trying to keep Ethan’s words from penetrating her mind. Carruthers. The file opened, revealing another email. She slid it to the side and clicked on the next photo. “Ashley.” This time Ethan slid the laptop out of reach, dropping her fingers to the table. She stared at the screen. A dog. A gray dog. Sean owned a gray dog once. Misty. She reached for the computer, but Ethan slid it farther away. “Stop. Listen.” Ethan sank into his chair and turned her to face him, though she fought his attention. “I have to get you out of here, to Virginia, where we’re headquartered.”
