Um. Ok. Wow. I was not really expecting that ending and the conclusion to tie up all the story lines was executed perfectly. *SPOILERS*I was actually kind of sad at Bertie's choice to trade Serefina for her words back but it wasn't until Ariel said that he saw the idea of a child and she had bis hair, that I realized how it was all going to end. I am upset that she lost Ariel in then end, but truthfully, he could never have been hers since he was never his own. The fire character Varvara was a delight and I loved the Queen! She was a beautiful representation of the Hectate Sisters, one of my favorite pieces of mythology. Overall, I do think that Lisa Mantchev did a wonderful job with the final book in the trilogy, and I am glad I stuck it out. Yes, this took me three attempts and forever to read, but only because I kept picking it up at times when I was excited to read it but not in quite the right mood for it. When the mood finally hit me, I was hooked. 4 stars. And Lisa, if you're reading this, you should know that I read the second half during a pretty horrible piece of life and being able to get lost in the pages helped me a lot. So thank you.
