Solange Am Himmel Sterne Stehen (2013) - Plot & Excerpts

I recommend it with all my heart! For those who want to dream, for those who want to love, for people who want to reflect on a current topic and thorny, for those who are interested in a very sensitive topic such as the Holocaust, knowing that new aspects, little known . Kristin Harmel knows how to convey the unique emotions, gently touching the most sensitive chords of our soul. "The sweetness of forgetting" is a story of women, of different generations; a history of research of its own origins; a story of courage and choices; a story of love, that feeling so beautiful and important, of true love, the one with the largest A you can imagine, a love of hard to find, but if you are lucky and you find it, makes your life so wonderful and makes you feel full. It 'a novel that conveys a tumult of emotions: I found myself smiling, but crying. My heart was beating fast or stopped, while the plot took away the substance. It 'also a book that smells of sweets, recipes that are scattered in different chapters that announce the point of view of Rose, presented in the third person, because of his disease, Alzheimer's disease that is making them forget his life, but brings it to sink into the distant past, but so important and sad, he was never really forgotten. It 'sa book that allows you to think deeply about a problem that has plagued - and continues to do so today - the whole of humanity: the struggle for absurd religions, a deep hatred that creeps in people, and that only leads to death. It 'a magic book, written with a gentle touch and a style truly wonderful, because really conveys a lot of emotions, touching the delicate strings of our heart, and gently hitting our soul. I heard so many raves about this book I just had to read it. I did not find it nearly as wonderful as a lot of folks did. It is a pleasant enough story, but very predictable, in my opinion. I do enjoy reading books about the German invasion into France, where they captured many Jewish families and held them horrid conditions prior to moving them to the camps. That historical part is interesting; it reminded me of "Sarah's Key", which I enjoyed a bit more than this one. The characters are just not very deep, and the teenage girl/spoiled brat truly got a bit old! Enough already, we get it! It is a book of long held secrets and the characters who uncover them. I knew how it would end long before I finished. I did enjoy the coastal Massachusetts town setting. This is a sweet story, not a great one, but a very easy read.
