This was the 1st story I've read by this author. I tend to prefer darker romances when I read about BDSM, they are usually edgier. However, I am thrilled to finally find an author to make a story that is BDSM in flavor, still romantic yet not a soft fluffy romance. A HEA ending is great but do it with some reality tossed in. Chloe Cox gives a perfect example of how to blend the two while staying true to the spirit of its dual subjects. This story is not for those who want a light or sweet romance.Characters: 4.5This was my first time reading a book by Chloe Cox and it will not be my last. You really could feel Stella and Bashir through their words, actions and emotions. I was so engrossed in this pair that I finished this story in 2 hours.Plot: 4The plot was believable and the eventual resolution at the end, at least for me, was satisfying. Flow: 5Even though there are many moments where Stella has a running internal monologue about how she feels currently versus what happened in her past, the overall flow of the book went smoothly.Believability: 3I do feel that in some scenes the behavior of the main leads was a little far-fetched but not to the extent of killing my overall enjoyment of reading this story.Sexual Tension: 5For those who understand BDSM, the parts where Stella began to experience and enjoy her submissive nature were gratifying. It was not rushed but flowed nicely, especially when she realized what she wanted from the relationship.Watching Bashir use his power of observation and knowledge of how to treat a submissive, brought an extra level of heat to the dom/sub scenes with him and Stella.Romance: 4The romantic times were woven nicely between the BDSM scenes and were nice to see.Elements• M/F• BDSM elements (Spanking, Toys, Exhibition, Submissive play)
