Sommerprickeln (2013) - Plot & Excerpts

I liked this novel - it was very entertaining and fun to read. I liked the characters and thought they were believable as well as intriguing. The main character is Annajane and she is quite likable - I was hoping she would get her man back. Celia is easy to hate and she deserves Davis, who is Celia's male alter ego. Mason is an ethical businessman with integrity and many other good husband qualities, who deserves happiness. This is my second time reading Spring Fever. The Story takes place in Passcoe, North Carolina home to Quixie Cherry Soda owned and operated by the Bayless family for generations. The story opens with Mason Bayless standing at the alter watching his daughter come up the aisle all the while looking at Annajane sitting in the church pew next to his sister Pokey, Annajane's best friend. Annajane is also his ex wife! The series of unfortunate events unravel starting with Mason's marriage to Celia Wakefield not taking place due to his daughter Sophie taking ill. Celia is excellent at manipulation as you'll see the towns people adore her, Mason fell for her, his brother Davis and Mother love her and she even works for Quixie now. Oh did I mention Annajane still works at Quixie as well?!Annajane and Sophie have a special bond that heart warming and Celia wants it over! Annajane repeatedly tells herself she doesn't love Mason anymore and she's over him. Well she is engaged now....Broken promises, deceit, anger, disappointments and a family secret comes out that pulls the Baylesses appart. It's a hard, complicated road for Mason and Annajane to find their way back to each other. You will truly believe that love at first sight does happen and can last a lifetime!

What do You think about Sommerprickeln (2013)?

I was conflicted about this book. I was into it enough that I kept trying to find time to listen to it. But on the other hand, I felt it had sections that were sloppy, both in the story itself and during the recording. The Monday after Celia and Mason's suspended wedding, shouldn't they have been on honeymoon, and her regular tennis date cancelled, instead of a place to spread gossip. And the author kept bringing up that Mason's father gave Anna-Jane 500 shares of stock, I kept expecting she would be needed to save the company. Also, I wanted more of a comeuppance for Celia as she was truly an unrelievedly awful person. But I will try another book by Ms. Andrews, as overall it was a fun book.

Awesome book! It's been a really long time since I have finished a hardcover book in only three days, but I just could not put this book down! The author is Mary Kay Andrews and this was the first book I have ever read by her, but it certainly won't be the last. She writes in a style similar to that of my favorite author, Nora Roberts, but different in a way I can't explain. She drew me in and made me really care about the characters; I hated to say goodbye to them. This is a book that I highly recommend - it is really, really good!
