I bought this a couple of days ago after seeing the first couple episodes of the anime and I've been reading volume after volume ever since then! Though I must say that the artwork in this volume is very messy and made it quite difficult and frustrating to read through. If I did not pick up volume 2 and saw that the artwork got better I honestly would of probably stopped reading the series and just stick with the anime. Though thankfully believe me when I say the artwork and plot get MUCH clearer and enjoyable in the second volume! So far, this has mostly made me uncomfortable in the worst possible way. It's a good introductory volume, and introduced the characters and the world in a coherent way that's missing from a lot of shonen manga, but the story itself makes me shake my head. The jokes aren't funny, and the character quirks are obsessively plastered onto every page. It's overwhelming. Who knows, though. A friend tells me it's worth the read, so I'll try at least the next two... but I can't say I'd be intrigued if I picked this up on my own.
I watched the anime first, but I guess you could say the manga is just as good!
