I saw no sign of him backing down from it either. Between him and Elsie—we’d be ruined. After our regrettable attempt at a pleasant lunch together, Elsie and I drove to the police station in front of Joe’s car, as though he were escorting us. I had to go along with his suggestion that we might be able to identify a photo of the mystery man Olivia might have been dating or help draw a sketch of him.
