This is such a bitter/sweet book!! William and Cally are so sweet and have had such a hard life at such a young age.. William by loosing his parents at such a young age and being raised by his grandmother. His Grandmother is grieving the loss of her son, and just can not show William the love he deserves... when she compares him to his father.. William's first real feeling of true love is with Cally and how she truly feels for him.... Unconditional love! not for his popularity, money, being the quarterback of football team.. she actually see's William for him!!The same can be said for Cally, she is a broken girl, who has to help take care of her sisters, because her parents have a terrible marriage and don't spend time together. and Her mother is using not only alcohol to numb her pain, but also drugs.. now the rumor in town is Cally's mom is the local massage therapist; however, with more than just a massage... she provides a service to men for her 'special 'sexual' services' as well.. for extra money. Of course this get's out and the women in town no longer go to her mother for massages and now Cally is looked at like her mother, even though she is a good girl, and has never even kissed a boy (well in 2nd grade, a dare)William see's Cally being harassed by some guys and stops them and runs them off. They become a couple for a year and they keep their relationship strictly non sexual and fall deeply in Love and the best of friends too.. until one day, Cally's parents end up divorcing and father leaves and the mother is moving herself and the girls to Vegas.. William is accepted to Notre Dame but they promise to wait for eachother.. they spend as much time together before she has to leave and they even have sexual relations to express their love.. it ends, with William believing Cally will be back for prom and then will visit him at college.. somehow... I do not believe Cally thinks she is good enough for William, but I can't wait to read the next book to see what happens with Cally and William and what secrets Cally is hiding.. After being introduced to Will Bailey in Unbreak Me I wondered what the heck was wrong with this guy? - jumping from fiance to fiance, and within the same family no less! This books helps explain it all...he's a true romantic and has never forgotten his first true love (swoon)! I'm glad I gave it a chance as I initially wasn't interested in "his story", but it's THEIRS, his and Cally's. I read it BEFORE Wish I May (but it can be read after as well) and wished it was longer, even though there was truly no need for it to be. It provided just enough to have me jumping into Wish I May well past my bedtime, begging for more of these 2 characters. A perfect addition to this series and I especially loved the touch of Asher Logan sprinkled in for good measure. I wish ALL of my favorite books offered prequels for their characters.
What do You think about Stolen Wishes (2013)?
