Stories I Only Tell My Friends (2011) - Plot & Excerpts

Rob Lowe's more recent memoir, Love Life, was a book club read this year. Those who'd read his earlier memoir, Stories I Only Tell My Friends, strongly preferred it to the newer book, and now I can kind of see why. There is comparatively A LOT of dish served up in Stories I Only Tell My Friends, and a lot of name-dropping, and a lot of juicy stories. If you were interested at all in Rob Lowe or any of his contemporary "Brat Pack"ers in the 80's, there's enough here to hold your attention. And while both memoirs had a healthy dash of lessons learned, I found plenty of pithy wisdom here to highlight in my Kindle. Maybe it's just me, or timing, or whatever, but I'm putting a lot of what I'm experiencing in the world right now in the context of an acting / performance career.I'm hungry. Need a snack. Well done! A life that so many of us have viewed from a distance, thinking we knew something about this man... As it turns out, like so many others, there is so much more under the surface! These stories are truly special and we can't help but feel privileged to have been given the opportunity to hear them told by the author himself in this audio version. Some are almost unbelievable, and yet, each one leaves you hoping there will be many more!Thank you Mr. Lowe, for sharing a bit of your life, your hopes, fears and dreams with us all! That was very kind of you... "On so many levels!"
