Storybound (2012) - Plot & Excerpts

This was an interesting premise. It's an interesting idea that stories aren't just written from someone's imagination but they are actually happening in a town called Story. There were definitely some confusing parts when it started and honestly I had to go back and re-read parts of it. I wanted Una to be a stronger character, but she got better as the story went on. I am curious to see how the sequel goes because there is a lot to wrap up and even more to be solved. I had such high expectations of this book, sadly they were not met. I was very disappointed by this book, I had seen so many good reviews and was expecting to love it as much as everyone else. Throughout the entire book i felt something was missing. The things I like: 1. The idea. I found the idea behind the book to be very interesting. 2. The world. I did like the general world of story, just needed more world building. 3. Snow. I found her the easiest of the characters to connect with. Had the best story to her. The things I didn't like: 1. The world building. We were given very little information on the Story in general.2. The characters. Everyone kept saying how brave Una was, she didn't seem at all brave. I found it very hard to connect with the characters. Almost no one had a back story. 3. How we are almost left in the dark. By this i mean that we are never told exactly how everything is run in story. We are told some of the workings but it is very minimal. To where even after we are informed yur still confused on everything. 4. How Sam is barley even there. For crying out loud, he's on the cover on my book. Why was he not more of a major part?5. The twist at the end. Was very random and almost felt as if it was added to create conflict in the character. 6. How it flowed. I enjoy a book so much more when they flow, this did not flow. Everything was very scattered. All in all I'm disappointed in this book and would not recommend it to anyone. I'm not completely sure I will read the 2nd one.
