Strych Tesli. (2013) - Plot & Excerpts

This book was one of the most entertaining book I have ever read. I really liked it because there was mystery and action throughout the story. The plot is weird, but the author makes it believable. Having this book to read was really good, because it kept me busy. I gave the story 4 stars because I enjoyed how the story had surprises, but the ending was disappointing. I would recommend this book to anybody who likes action and/or mystery. Ok, I'm hooked. I'll be counting the days until book 2 of the Accelerati Trilogy comes out. Tesla's Attic by Neal Shusterman and Eric elf man is the first in the series and is a science fiction junkies dream come true. Now, as I say that, let me also say that I am not a sci-fi junkie. Usually I'm not a fan of it at all, but this book had me from page one. The main protagonist is Nick, an eighth grader who has just moved to a rather decrepit Victorian style house in Colorado Springs that had belonged to a great aunt. He moved there from Florida, with his dad and little brother, shortly after a fire consumed their home and killed his mother. In this new house, Nick discovers that some antiques and oddities he has sold in a yard sale all had very odd properties. This is where the sci-fi lovers will really get into the book. Imagine simple every day items such as toasters, cameras. curlers, etc.,that show the future, record the truth only, finish spoken phrases, bring things back to life, change the paths of asteroids, make things disappear, and more. After having sold these items all off, thinking it's all junk, Nick discovers his mistake, and with the help of some school friends tries to collect them all back. But this is not an easy task. Nick also finds that there is a secret organization, the Accelerati, very interested in these items, too, because they are all inventions of Nicholas Tesla, one of the greatest inventors of all time, an inventor who was thought to be way ahead of his time. This will definitely be a hit with young adults - I only wish I had a class to read it to myself, because I can just hear the groans and complaints when it's time to close the book for the day and move into other work. It's full of suspense, a thrill ride from page one until the end, and has great characters (good and bad) who almost become like the characters in Duperman, but with no Superman. Loved it!

What do You think about Strych Tesli. (2013)?

Excellent story from a great author (even though it's written for middle grades).

Very clever and a great way to introduce children to Tesla.
