If I'm not mistaken this will complete my 2014 reading challenge... and that thought alone is enough to make anyone, let alone someone who enjoyed reading as much as I do, feel festive. So, while looking up for a book to read one Sunday morning, I have this strange feeling that raunchy kind of romances will not be able to hold up to what I need. So, i searched and searched for something unusual but at the same time will be able to perk me up. I came upon several romance books, a lot belong to the erotica genre, and I passed up. Then, there comes Suddenly Royal. I grew up watching Disney flicks with my cousins. And I have this particular crush on Anne Hathaway growing up, so I love watching movies which feature her. One of the her projects that I love is Princess Diaries. Call me nuts, but I guess I'm a nutter for unconventional type of love stories with a twist of forbidden kind of love drama. I don't know but those kind of stuff interest me so much. So, yeah, before starting I kind of run through several top reviews of the book most of which are pointing this is kind of like a Princess Diaries ripoff the only difference is it has more mature content. After reading it, I totally disagree. Sure there are some points that you can see some minor similarities but the two books have different identities and the author maintained that all throughout. I love how things about the colony are stretched perfectly and how at some point the love story is pushed back to give in space for the other important stuff. I love how Sam isn't whiny and too girly. I loved the stepfather side of the story. To wrap it all up I freaking love this story. Who doesn't love a good fairytale? Going from a grad student to a Duchess, meeting a handsome prince and living in a beautiful foreign land, Samantha Rousseau had quite the journey. I thought it was sweet and romantic, with a lot of humor thrown in too. I got swept away with every little girl's dream, although I don't think I'd say Sam shared that sentiment. But, like all great fairytales, the happily ever after was worth it. I really enjoyed the writing, and I thought the story flowed nicely. All of the characters were great, including the supporting roles. There was a lot of depth to this story, and it was great.
