It's only been a day since I finished this book and it's already blending into the first book and I'm having a hard time remembering what happened in it. While I like the characters and the overarching plot of the series, the individual books seem to have little to no plot within them. I am not 2/3rds through the series and nothing much has happened, other than the girls running around not knowing what to do. They aren't really achieving anything and if I had to sit down and describe what the 2nd book is actually about, I don't know if I could describe any type of driving plot that pushes this book forward. The conflict has remained the same and the smaller conflicts are all identical. Fulfilling their destiny drives the series, but so far all that has happened is that anyone that could be remotely helpful to them is kidnapped the minute they are of use, leaving the girls in the dark about what to do. Yet when it comes to kidnapping to stopping the main characters, the villains are inept, but they are very good at destroying or removing any and all people or objects in their life that gives them any clue of how to fulfill their destiny. It's not so much that the story, characters, or writing is bad, it's just that it feels like nothing is happening to move the story forward. The personal conflicts of the main characters in the first book was enough to keep the book interesting, but in this one there just isn't enough forward momentum in the plot line. Even though the girls are proactive in trying to do what they need to, it just feels like they are bouncing around in the dark with no idea of what to do. They aren't any closer to fulfilling their destiny in this book than they were in the beginning of the first book. I'm going with a 3.5 on this one. Honestly, I don't have much to say about it. It's one of those books that when you're reading it, you're totally absorbed and then when you finish you say "What just happened?" I do remember the ending though! I really liked the ending... it wasn't a crazy cliffhanger but it wasn't a dead end that didn't make me want to read the next one. The whole concept of the book is still very intriguing to me but it all seems so far away. I never get totally lost in it. I'm always aware it's just a story and even the girl's problems seem far away from them. I don't really know what I mean by that but that seemed like the right thing to say so I'm going with it.I promise a more logical review on the next one... 3.5 stars.
