Briefly, ever so briefly, he felt a fleeting desire to be facing simple problems, like gangs of murderous swordsmen. “I don’t expect trouble,” Christopher told the men, “but I don’t want you to run away. Just stand your ground, okay?” The men looked a little confused, and even Tom was rendered curious.
