First book in a new series by one of my all-time favorite authors. A black ops operative has been assigned to protect a woman whose life is in serious danger and who may or may not hold key information to bringing down one of So. America's most lethal drug cartel leaders. It is written with the usual care and craftsmanship that Katie Reus always brings to the writing task and she has given her readers another story that will keep us on the chair's edge throughout. There is a wonderful balance between the suspense and the undercover work along with the romance and some very serious loving. There are also some shadowy characters who may or may not be featured in future books. All in all, it's a terrific read. I enjoyed this first book in the series. It is was a quick, easy read. It allowed me to care about the characters but I wasn't so connected I was in knots over them. Especially since I knew the good guys would win. Well I was pretty sure. This is a romantic suspense series with a government special ops team. The next book in the series comes out August 5th, so we shall see if that is how it continues but it seems like it will. The main characters here were good people with crappy backgrounds. I hope I read some more stories where the people are just rather ordinary up to the story. I mean not super rich or super poor. It's a good book for what it is and I'm likely to read the next book in the series.
More then a three but not quit a four star. Will def be reading the next in the series.
