This book was not bad but I gave it 3 stars because I found it very tedious at times. I like the people we were introduced to but felt like we could have done without all the small details. I felt like their stories could have been cut in half and we'd still have been able to understand them and how they reached their goals. I wanted to finish the book but kept dreading picking it up to read because it got so boring at times. If you ever begin to feel sorry for yourself, pull out a copy of Ten Years Later: Six People Who Faced Adversity and Transformed Their Lives by Hoda Kotb and read one of the stories. It will remind you that everyone has a story that the majority of us have no inkling of. That alone should help you feel better; but when you read how these people not only accepted their challenges, but rose above them in huge, significant ways, you will be humbled. This book reminds us of the resiliency of the human spirit, how the darkest times can be those that make us the strongest, and what amazing things can come out of the things that we thought would do us in.Kudos to all involved in this book, and thank-you to those who shared their stories.I received a copy of this book through the Goodreads first-reads program in exchange for an honest review of the book. I have not been influenced in any way regarding my review.
Great inspirational book with stories of six incredible people who have faced trials and survived.
