My first introduction into Jillian Dodd' s writing...This was my first YA read & I enjoyed the giddy feeling it gives you with that feeling we all got when we were young and discovering boys...If your looking for a storyline that's gonna grab you in intensity with depth or substance this isn't it, this is just a light hearted story about first kisses and best friend love. Sometimes you want to just get lost in a story that doesn't have all that angst & conflict. That Boy will make you smile & focus on sweet boys BEST friends and falling in love.... I for one fell in love with JJ Phillip & Danny The writing & writing style in general was complete and utter shit, so be warned to those who are literary fanatics. From random 'SHITTT!!!!!' To other grammar mistakes, this book was poorly written. However -I enjoyed this book. I can't say I was in love with it simply because I guessed the ending. Since we got that little preview at the beginning of the novel and knew there was going to be two boys in the mix - I knew it would have to be one of them. I kept switching back and forth and was uncertain but about half way I knew who was going to end up with who.So imagine my non surprise when I was right. I simply flicked to the end and skimmed until I found who. However, I still enjoyed what I read and felt that whilst the tragedy in this book was completely heartbreaking, I felt it was unnecessary and that I couldn't connect with the main characters angst and tears as I should have. However, the scenes following after had my heart missing some palpitations. All in all a good book. Recommend for younger readers. Definitely not for those who like a bad boy as you will be surely as disappointed as I was.
What do You think about That Boy (2000)?
