That Wedding (2000) - Plot & Excerpts

I mainly listened to this book on Audible and it had me in tears. Both from laughing and from painful emotions. Assuming you've read the first book, this one goes on into the wedding planning and what not. so you can imagine how difficult this book gets in parts. Jadyn is planning this without her mom...it will rip you to shreds if you sre the emotional type...like me...tears running...at work. it was awful. I've read many reviews talking about how she sounded immature and what not...rubbish. inside my head I sound a lot like her, which is why I think I loved this book so much. Our inner dialogue is different than what we verbalize, which we are reading her inner dialogue so...makes sense. another thibg people have mentioned is they didn't like all the sex...which to that I say get real people. Do you not remember the good days when your relationship first gets serious and you cannot keep your hands off of eachother?! It is real. They have 22ish years of pent up sexual frustration going on, they needed to get busy. I did get pretty annoyed at Jadyn sometimes. She is a brat for the most part, but Phillip has made her that way. So, it is his fault. She is so unsure on how to do things. she is scared and she doesnt want to make the wrong choices in life, it happens to all brides whether they admit it or not. This book has flaws, they all do. The thing that makes me love this book is that by thr end...I dont care about them. They story leads you where you need to be. Also, if you pay very close attention you can see the little nuggets of info she drops in there that will lead into the nest book...see if you can catch them! This was a really good follow up to "That Boy" and one that you really don't want to miss if you read the first one. On the other hand, if you haven't read the first one, stop reading this immediately and get the first one to read right now!! Otherwise, you will find spoilers and that's no fun for anyone at all. Go now before it's too late!In this second book, the reader is taken on a journey from the point of view of J.J and follows her and Phillip throughout their engagement and the trials and tribulations evolved therein. The author does a wonderful job of bringing the characters to life once again and brings back many of the old crew who play both major and minor roles in this book. The candid way the story is written makes for a refreshing break from so many other books out there. It's written in a quirky easy read sort of way that drags you right on in and keeps you there until the very end. I would really rate this book about 4.high5 so I went with a five star. The few reasons being that I think Jayden and Phillip have sex more often than anything else occurs in the book. Ah, young love, but geez. It's a bit much. Also, it's really hard to relate to people who have pretty much everything. Enough money for everything and anything, perfect looks, beyond perfect wedding without any cost restrictions (one person puking at the wedding = $300 loss! That's about the entire months food budget right there!!), perfect... well, everything. In "That Boy", the perfection was certainly still there and it was hard to relate to, but it was tainted by the death of J.J's parents, but in this one, it's just too dang perfect! It would be great though to get everything one wanted!! On another note, that's what fiction is all about so it was still a great read because reality is what I like to get away from for a bit when reading!! Although I just listed all that above, I have to admit I am a sucker (at times, but don't tell anyone) for literary weddings and the wedding was written so beautifully in this book that I might have shed a very girly tear or 50 while reading it. It was just really cute and one that shouldn't be missed by anyone who likes books of this type. Oh, it was just too cute. Loved it.Regardless of everything, this really is a good book and a series well worth picking up and giving a chance to. Relatable or not, the author has a real knack for writing characters and telling a good story and she does an excellent job in continuing the story from one book to the next. I am really anxious to read the very much anticipated "That Baby" book in the series someday (hopefully soon)!

What do You think about That Wedding (2000)?

Patiently waiting for That Baby. The relationship between Jay, Phillip and Danny is very special.

I liked the story line but it was a little too long and drawn out. Sort of repetitive.
