These book teaches the 7 habits in a short story format that kids can understand. The first habit is "Be Proactive." The story for this habit is about a boy that is bored and learns it is his responsibility to find something to do. I love that my kids can understand principles that will last a lifetime in such an easy format. After each story there are questions to review with your kids to make sure they got the point of each story. The book makes it effortless to teach kids important values. I started to read this through right after bringing it home from the library. I didn't think I would like it because it was too didactic. My kids did though. They like the characters and stories. AND, I've already been able to use some of the things we learned in practical situations. The other day my daughter came up to me at the library and said she'd like to check out a book on tape since she's bored at home sometimes. I got to compliment her on taking charge for herself (the first principle we read about). I've also tried to coach kids who are having trouble coming to a resolution about finding a win-win situation. I haven't read it all the way through with all of the kids, but this is the book we keep in our van for times when we have to sit there and wait etc. so I'm sure we will soon finish.
Reading these stories with my second graders to launch Covey's 7 habits this year.
